Is Education Killing Creativity?
In this compelling and profoundly moving speech from the 2006 TED Conference, Sir Ken Robinson delivers a wonderful argument for the need to rethink the principles on which we’re educating our children, our view of intelligence and the value we place on creativity.
Robinson argues that every education system on the planet…and pretty much every company too…squander the tremendous, creative capacities inherent in all of us by educating us (or scaring us) out of creativity.
If you’re not prepared to be wrong, you’ll never come up with anything original. And yet we run our schools and companies (including ad agencies) by stigmatizing mistakes!?
I want the entire world to listen to this speech.

Hey Frederik, you should check out Miss Izzy’s blog for more interesting views on this subject. She writes extremely well and has above average taste in underwear. Not bad for a Singaporean lass.

That blew my mind…
Reminds me a lot of the countless arguments I have had with my parents about this subject.
I will be adding to my blog also in the hope others will watch this. Thanks Fredrik, inspirational.

[...] I’ve previously posted about education and creativity and promoted Sir Ken Robinson’s compelling argument for the need to rethink our view of intelligence and the principles on which education systems around the world are based (from TED 2006). If you haven’t heard Sir Ken’s speech, I urge you to go and listen to it here. [...]
